Gimgane, Saemaeul Jungang Market
Simmered and grilled right at the market shop front
The owner was born and raised in Gumi. She learned to cook from her mother, and now her son, daughter-in-law and son-in-law are carrying that cooking on.
The gamasot (big iron cauldron) for the broth and the yeontan grill for the spicy jokbal both sit right out front. Ingredients are bought at the traditional market.
Guests range from small children to grandparents.
From Gumi City’s “Gumi Matjip” profile: a family business now in its 48th year
“We always cook as if we were cooking for our own family.”
