The owner, born and raised in Gumi, learned to cook from her mother and is passing those skills on to her son, daughter-in-law and son-in-law.

    A big iron cauldron boils away in front of the shop.

  2. Yeontan grill

    Spicy jokbal is grilled on a wire rack over the yeontan (coal briquette) fire. Spicy jokbal plus yeontan grilling: that is Bul-jokbal.

  3. The market

    The shop is inside Saemaeul Jungang Market. Ingredients are bought at the market every day, and only jokbal cooked that same day is served.

Every gukbap (soup with rice) starts with a bone broth (sagol) simmered for 24 hours over a yeontan (coal briquette) fire, then brought back to a boil in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot) when you order.
